Starboard View consists of 9 original tracks all written by Kaley Kinjo. The album touches on a diverse and wide range of styles from the moody minor spaghetti-western feel of ‘Lost But Not Gone’, and the catchy upbeat fun of ‘Kangaroos’, to the whimsical pondering of the ballad ‘Wild Prairie Rose’. “Starboard View” is a collection of emotions, and a sentimental study in leaving from the places we call ‘Home’ and the situations that ask us to do so. It is a stark reflection of the pull that we feel to venture out, and the longing we feel for ‘somewhere else’. Those familiar with Kaley’s original work will be surprised to find a more serious and darker tone to many of Kinjo’s songs while still maintaining the playful vibes that he’s known for in others.
